Every Smart Upasthit terminal comes ready to deploy out-of-the-box. Whether you selected the NFC Card Reader or the Biometric + NFC Dual-Factor Device, the mounting process is simple and durable.

Unbox Contents: Device unit, 5V / 2A Type-C power adapter, heavy-duty mounting bracket, wall anchor screws, and 5 demo RFID smart cards.

Mounting Location: Mount at eye/chest level (approx. 4.5 feet from the ground) near the main entrance gate, reception, or classroom door.

Power Supply: Connect the supplied USB-C cable to the power adapter. The OLED display will light up with the Smart Upasthit boot sequence.

Pro Tip for High Traffic For institutions with over 300 students arriving within 15 minutes, mount terminals in parallel with a 3-foot gap between them to maintain zero queue congestion.

Smart Upasthit connects directly to your existing 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network. You don't need to run messy LAN cables or install separate server equipment on-premise.

Turn on Wi-Fi on Phone: On first boot, the terminal broadcasts a secure Wi-Fi hotspot named SmartUpasthit_Config.

Open Setup Portal: Connect to the hotspot and open your web browser. You will be automatically redirected to 192.168.4.1.

Select Network & Save: Choose your campus Wi-Fi network from the dropdown, enter the password, and hit Connect.

Offline Resilience Guarantee If your internet goes down, the device continues recording punches with full timestamps locally in flash memory and automatically synchronizes everything to the cloud once connectivity resumes!

Bulk User Upload: Download our sample Excel/CSV template. Paste Student/Staff Names, Roll Numbers, Phone Numbers, and Class/Department, then click Upload.

NFC Card Pairing: Click "Pair Card" in the admin dashboard, then simply tap the card against the terminal once. The card's UID is instantly mapped to the student!

Biometric Fingerprint Enrollment: In user settings, choose "Enroll Finger" and place the finger on the optical sensor 3 times until the confirmation chime rings.

AI Face Recognition (Optional): Upload a portrait photo from webcam or gallery to create an encrypted biometric vector.

What happens if the school Wi-Fi goes down?

Smart Upasthit includes built-in offline caching. The device continues logging student and employee punches with precise real-time timestamps in non-volatile internal flash memory. As soon as Wi-Fi is restored, all stored records automatically synchronize to the cloud with zero data loss.

Can students give proxy attendance for their friends?

With our Dual-Factor Biometric Terminal or AI Face Recognition, proxy attendance is physically impossible. Even with RFID cards, anti-passback rules prevent multiple punches within a set window of time, and real-time parent alerts ensure guardians are notified immediately.

What if a student loses or damages their NFC smart card?

Reassigning a card takes less than 10 seconds. From the Admin Dashboard, click the student's name, deactivate the lost card, and tap a new blank card against the terminal to immediately pair it. Historical attendance data remains completely intact.

Can Smart Upasthit integrate with our existing School ERP or HRMS?

Yes! Smart Upasthit provides enterprise REST API access and automatic scheduled webhooks. We can seamlessly push attendance logs directly to your school ERP, college portal, or payroll software.
